Overcome Emotional Eating-Help for Binge Eating

If you’d like to lose weight and are overeating for a reason other than hunger, you probably need to overcome emotional eating patterns.  There is definitely help for binge eating.  If you are dealing with this problem, your solution to dealing with stress is generally eating.  People with eating disorders respond to loneliness, stress and depression by using food as a drug to deal with the problem.

A recent study showed that emotional eating patterns could be lowered by dealing with life’s problems with a positive attitude and trying to find solutions.  Food doesn’t have to be a way of dealing with stress anymore than alcohol or drugs is a positive solution or workable.

You must determine what type of eater you are to overcome emotional eating.  If you stuff down fast food quickly while driving, reading or watching TV, you’re obviously not eating for pleasure.   Our society is fast paced and eating habits definitely mirror that.  The goal is to sit down to a well prepared lunch, eat slowly enjoying each bite and truly paying attention to the eating process.  This does require slowing down.
