Successful Weight Loss-Keeping the Weight Off
Many ads and stories of weight loss talk about dropping 10 pounds in a week and losing pounds quick. What’s really happening when that occurs is you are losing water weight. Your body will go into starvation alert and the metabolic rate slows way down. When you start eating normally after this, your body packs and stores the fat thinking that down the road this starvation thing may come again. Boom! You’ve just added more weight. You lost some pounds in water and gained more in fat. This isn’t exactly keeping the weight off.
I know it’s hard to just do away with foods you love but how about a compromise? Find reduced fat or calorie substitutes. They might not taste as great as the original but it’s worth it in less calories and it beats cutting them out entirely.
It’s obvious that successful weight loss won’t happen if you insist on drinking sodas or regular milk. I got used to non fat milk and can’t imagine drinking regular or low fat milk. Drink a lot of water as it’s very healthful and filling. Keeping the weight off requires that these drinks become a habit and not just a temporary substitute.
My last point is that you start moving around. A walk around the block, an extra trip up and down the stairs or biking to the store or to work can really burn the fat. It makes such a difference and is so much more fun than being on a strict diet.
