DailyDaily Calorie Counting- Why Can’t I Lose Weight?

You diligently do your daily calorie counting and you still can’t lose weight.  What’s up with that?  You feel like quitting and with good reason.  If you can’t lose weight on 1200 calories a day, then what.  Many think it’s their metabolism.

The reason you aren’t losing weight on a 1200 calorie a day diet isn’t normally a slow metabolism.  The problem is most likely a poor calorie count on foods.  Did you know that daily calorie counting is extremely difficult because data on calories was gathered years ago and portions were very small.  When you read about having a serving of steak, the writer was referring to about 5 ounces rather than the 12 ounce steak normally served in a restaurant.

Studies show that people still opt for taste over portions size and will usually eat everything served to them and consider that a “serving”.  When you read the labels remember to pay attention at how large of a size they define as a serving.  It makes a huge difference.

Women usually look at 1200 calories as the right diet amount but if you are sedentary and don’t exercise it will take forever to lose even at this low figure of calories.  You need to burn more than you are taking in.  You may be doing your calorie count on foods correctly but still need to exercise to see results.  You could lose weight on 1600 calories a day if your exercise session is a good workout.

The fact is that daily calorie counting is an art and if you aren’t losing weight on a 1200 calorie diet, you need to really keep a perfect count when it comes to calorie count on foods.  I would guess that your count is more than 1200 in most cases.   Check out Strip That Fat for great ideas on losing weight the healthy way.  Click here.
