My Wife is Fat, My Husband is Fat-What You Can Do, Part 2

My wife is fat or my husband is fat.  Why?  If it was strictly a physical problem people could be educated as to how to eat and exercise and that would be it.  They would lose the weight and never gain it back.  But that’s not the reality.

•    The reality is that the issues are usually emotional.   That means the couple working together as both are affected by the problem and this may mean lots of supportive conversation.  You must be willing to go to counseling if that is agreed upon also.  Anything that affects a man or a woman affects their spouse also.  That’s what marriage is all about.

•    Stress that the motivation for weight loss be for health reasons.  If you say my husband is fat, I know that means more that health is your interest but emphasize that your biggest concern is how they feel and that you want them around for as long as possible.  That has to be the number one motivator anyhow because our focus is to make permanent life changes, not another temporary loss of a few pounds.

•    Have fun with it.  Take walks or play golf or do any physical activities you can think of together.  This will not only result in physical change but make you closer as a couple.

The statement that my wife is fat is only for now, not always.  Help them think of themselves as the person they want to be both physically and emotionally.  A plan that compliments these ideas is called Strip That Fat.  Click here to check it out.
