Temporary Weight Loss- Why the Ups and Downs?
It seems like people that are normally very uh, normal, go nuts when it comes to weight-loss. This is one of the reasons temporary weight loss is so common.
A typical plan might include a few vegetables, some miracle drug to lose water weight fast, non stop workouts and the latest wonder pills to “speed up” the metabolism. This plan is unhealthy and headed for disaster or at least failure. My experience is that the far ends of the dieting spectrum don’t work long term.
Many of us have said we are going to lose so many pounds before a special occasion such as a wedding or other big social gathering. The problem is that we’re setting ourselves up for gaining the pounds back after the big event is over. We shouldn’t be setting goals like this. The goal needs to be losing weight for your self. Temporary weight loss is not the goal but long term and forever.
Our physical body is a creation of our mind and that means getting control of our thoughts and self talk. The true challenge to weight-loss is maintaining our commitment. The reason so many great plans fail is that commitment goes south after a short time. We need to be patient because we’re trying to reverse years of bad habits.
The true challenge here isn’t losing weight. Avoiding temporary weight loss by maintaining our zeal and the new habits of healthy eating and exercise will lead to permanent change and a slim mindset.
